Amazonian Rainforest Conservancy

AYA is now buying land in Peru to preserve virgin rainforest in the upper Amazon to be held within a protected land trust.  Working with trusted local people to make our initial purchases of 100 acres of deep rainforest, AYA is partnering with local Matses to continue to purchase and care for acreage in what can be considered an ongoing battle to preserve the rainforest for our own and future generations.  The land we’re buying would otherwise be clear-cut to make way for cocoa and sugarcane plantations, and then, once the land is depleted, given way to cattle farms.

The conservancy is located inland from the Ucayali River near the small portside town of Genaro Herrera.  Our initial purchases are already under contract.  We’ll be buying the land with or without your help.  But if you’ve joined us in ceremony you’ve already helped us make our initial purchases.  We’re grateful. We’re also passionate about preserving the vast pharmacopeia of the rain forest.  In prayer and meditation, we’ve already vowed our assistance to the vast interwoven spirit of the plants, animals, and land in this region.  We’re looking to do our small part.

If you’d like to join us with an additional donation for this project, we’ll be happy to update you with our progress, which is to say your progress, including photos and details of the land you personally helped to preserve.    AYA is part of a wider religious community, we’re doing our best to carry that mantle in a caring and loving manner.  For those of you who know us, we’re neither cultish or doctrinaire.  We’re a part of a movement of visionary churches seeking to honor the teachings of sacred plant medicines and the traditions of those who have come before us.  As such, we seek to honor the sacredness of life itself as honest stewards of the land.
